Histories for 3rd Armored Division




503d Military Police Company
The 3d Armored Division was Constituted 13 January 1941 in the Regular Army as Headquarters, 3d Armored Division and Activated 15 April 1941 at Camp Beauregard, Louisiana. The Division served in Europe during WW II. The MP Platoon, 3d Armored Division was activated with the Division and served during 1944 and 1945 in Germany during WW II. The 3d Armored Division was Inactivated 10 November 1945 in Germany. The 3d Armored Division was Activated 15 July 1947 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. During 3 March 1948, the MP Platoon, 3d Armored Division was redesignated as the 503d Military Police Company, 3d Armored Division. The Division was reorganized and redesignated 1 June 1960 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3d Armored Division. The Division deployed to Germany and the Division Headquarters was located at Drake Kaserne. The 503d MP Company was headquartered in Drake Kaserne, Frankfurt with and a MP Platoon in Friedberg and a MP Platoon located in Bamberg. The 3d Armored Division was inactivated 15 August 1992 in Germany. The 503d Military Police Company served from 03/26/48 until it was Inactivated 15/08/92 in Germany.
